The Co-Parenting Seminar (Separation & Divorce) is a two evening seminar that teaches parents to help their children adjust to critical changes in family life. Designed for separated, divorced, and never married parents, the Seminar emphasizes strategies for developing healthy co-parenting relationships and minimizing conflict. Topics include the grief process for adults and children, changes in the parent-child relationship, strategies for effective discipline and communication, and the impact of changes on children at different ages. Videos of both children and parents discussing the impact of divorce on their families are shown. A panel of legal experts shares their insight, experience, and expertise during the second evening. This six-hour seminar is required by judges in family law courts in many Maryland counties. The seminars are scheduled on a regular basis and are taught by experienced family counselors and therapists trained and certified to teach this course. The fee for the seminar is $100, with need-based scholarships available through the Circuit Court of Carroll County (Family Law Office). To register for upcoming seminars, please call Susan White, Parent Education Coordinator, at 410-848-2500 x 133 or 410-876-2500 x133 or e-mail spwhite@ccysb.org.
